A brief explanation of what this means for you is below.

IAFF

- The International Association of Fire Fighters, headquartered in Washington, DC, represents more than 296,000 full-time professional fire fighters and paramedics who protect 85 percent of the nation’s population. More than 3,100 affiliates and their members protect communities in every state in the United States and in Canada. The IAFF is one of the most active lobbying organizations in Washington; its Political Action Committee, FIREPAC, is in the top one percent for money raised per capita and lobbying effectiveness of the more than 4,000 federal PACs registered in the country. The IAFF provides Education & Training, Health & Safety research, Technical & Legal assistance, and various types of financial services such as banking, insurance and mortgage programs through vendors. The organization also maintains a national fallen fire fighter memorial, as well as providing a sportsmen’s club and a motorcycle club for our members’ enjoyment. http://www.iaff.org/

WSCFF
- The Washington State Council of Fire Fighters was founded on September 1, 1939, and represents 130 affiliated Fire Fighter Union Locals and their more than 6900 affiliated members within the state. The WSCFF’s mission is to provide the best possible working conditions, the safest work environment, and the fairest wages and benefits to fulfill the needs of the men and women in this profession. The council is active on local and national fronts with regard to issues that affect its members. The WSCFF administers several major programs in addition to political action. Education is provided through regional classes and one comprehensive educational seminar per year. An annual convention is held to elect officers and determine policy and direction of the WSCFF. Legal assistance is provided through direct response financial loans or retention of counsel. Representation is provided when needed and requested for contract negotiations, mediation, interest arbitration, grievance arbitration, and other matters. The WSCFF provides access to wills and powers of attorney, a local benevolent fund, fire fighter family members, college scholarships, and life insurance. The WSCFF is active in the burn foundation and has produced a state fire fighter license plate as well as a program called Stand-By-Us.
